A 4x6 footprint can technically hold more birds than it should for long-term comfort. Indoor area is only one part of capacity; perch length, nest access, ventilation, and run space all matter.
Bantams can increase numbers somewhat, but roost and nest traffic still become limiting factors if flock density is too high.
